$348.00

Hydraulic Press: Form, Texture & Dimension

Discover the incredible creative potential of the hydraulic press in this six-week journey designed for curious metalsmiths ready to expand their skills. Meeting each week on Friday mornings, this class combines guided instruction with plenty of hands-on exploration as you learn how to transform flat sheet metal into beautifully formed, dimensional jewelry.

You’ll explore a variety of techniques using both manual and hydraulic presses, including embossing, die cutting, silhouette dies, bracelet forming, and creating hollow forms. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how metal moves under pressure and how the hydraulic press can become an essential tool in your creative process.

Each class builds on the previous week’s techniques, giving you the confidence to experiment, solve design challenges, and create unique components that bring depth and movement to your work.

By the end of six weeks, you’ll leave with a collection of samples and finished jewelry, a strong understanding of hydraulic press techniques, and the confidence to incorporate bold forms and expressive textures into your own designs.

Included Weekly Studio Lab

Learning doesn’t end when class is over. Your enrollment includes a weekly supervised Studio Lab where you’ll have dedicated bench time to practice new techniques, continue class projects, as you refine your skills. It’s the perfect opportunity to experiment and make the most of your time at the bench.

Prerequisite: Beginning Metalsmithing or equivalent fabrication experience is recommended.

Instructor: Laura Quiñones

We’ve got you covered!

Tool kits are available to rent or buy from our tool shop and will be handed out during the first class—easy peasy. Basic materials are included, and if you need extra, you can grab more from the shop anytime.

All students in this course get access to open lab once a week—just pick the day that works best for you! Need more studio time? No problem! You can add extra hours at a discounted rate with a studio membership.

Need to cancel? No problem—just give us a heads-up!

If something comes up and you need to cancel two weeks before the start date, we’ll provide a credit you can use toward another class or workshop.

If you need to miss a class, we totally understand—but unfortunately, we can’t offer refunds or transfers for missed sessions. For multi-week studio classes, you’re welcome to use open studio hours to make up any time you miss during the course session.

Once a class has started, we’re not able to offer refunds or move you to a different session. That said, if we ever need to cancel a class on our end, you’ll receive a tuition credit that’s good for up to a year.

Thanks for understanding—we’re excited to have you in the studio!
