Set in Stone: 2-Day Jewelry Setting Workshop.

$258.00

Want to create a piece of jewelry with a unique stone setting? Construction of hand fabricated settings and setting cabochons will be the focus of this two-day workshop. Students will be introduced to the basic techniques of working with non-ferrous metals (copper, brass, and silver), basic hand tools, sawing, forming, texturing, silver-soldering using a torch, bezel embellishment, and prong setting. In two days, students should expect to walk away with at least one or two finished projects, a pendant and a ring or a pair of earrings.

Glass cabochons are included in the workshop price, alternatively extra gemstone cabochons will be available to purchase ($5- $20 each) or students may bring a gemstone of their own to work with. If bringing your own stone we recommend: stones with a flat back and 12mm or larger (it can very challenging to set small stones). 20mm is ideal.

Brass and copper are included in the workshop fee, sterling sliver supplies are optional and payable during the workshop (cost varies by project size and current market price).

Previous jewelry making or metalsmithing experience can be helpful but is not required, beginners are welcome.

(There will be a lunch break so bring a sack lunch or snack )

Instructor: Andrea Sepulveda

2 sessions (weekend workshop)

10am-4:00 pm.

Saturday February 7 & Sunday February 8

Prerequisite: None
